Summer Fete 2009

A busy time having fun at our Summer fete

Three out of three! First the weather was kind to us for our balloon race and then for the sponsored walk and cycle ride; now the sun shone for our Summer fete. Mind you, those manning tha BBQ could have done with a little less help on the heat front - but the wet sponges were most welcome!!

This year saw us change from our usual Friday night format to holding the fete on a Saturday afternoon - this gave more time to run the event as well as set up and clear up. Despite the change of day and time, the attendance was very good and everyone seemed to be having fun.

There were some new attactions including the bouncy castle, magician, crockery smashing and the steam engine - we even had a fly past by the only airworthy Avro Vulcan. The West Sussex Coutry Rangers were in attendance informing us all about what they do to help conserve our beautiful countryside setting - most apt as our school is keen to involve all the children in protecting the environment and will be constructing our new building using eco-friendly methods.

Well done to the PTA for organising the event and those who helped run it on the day; and thank you to those who came and spent their money so generously - it really does all go to a good cause.

Stop Press:

The event proved a financial success with just over £2000 being raised! Congratulations are also due to Keir Smith who won the "be headteacher for the day" prize although this does mean we will have to see Mr Caughlin in shorts again!
